About the Team
Workdayβs Public Cloud Infrastructure Team is a diverse group of software developers, cloud engineers & site reliability engineers (SREs) who work together to ensure our cloud infrastructure is secure, scalable, and highly available. We focus on enabling Workday's growth in the public cloud by crafting, deploying and maintaining fully automated, resilient and scalable infrastructure-as-a-service. We constantly strive to streamline processes and reduce manual effort, allowing us to focus on delivering innovative solutions that drive business value. As the Leader of Public Cloud Engineering at Workday, you will play a pivotal role in driving our transformation to the public cloud (AWS or GCP). You will lead a dynamic team of cloud engineers, focusing on building cutting-edge tools and solutions using the latest technologies to empower our organization. Your responsibilities will also include overseeing the cloud network engineering function, ensuring a secure and highly available cloud infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
Cloud Transformation Leadership:
Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for migrating and optimizing Workday's workloads on public cloud platforms (AWS or GCP).
Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of cloud engineers to ensure successful execution of cloud transformation initiatives.
Technology Innovation:
Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in cloud technologies, and leverage them to build tools and solutions that drive efficiency and scalability.
Identify and implement standard methodologies in cloud architecture, security, and operations.
Cloud Infrastructure Management:
Oversee the design, deployment, and management of Workday's cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize cloud resource utilization and cost management.
Cloud Network Engineering:
Lead the cloud network engineering function, responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining a robust and secure cloud network infrastructure.
Ensure seamless connectivity between on-premises and cloud environments.
Collaboration and Communication:
Collaborate closely with other engineering teams, product managers, and business stakeholders to understand their requirements and provide cloud solutions that meet their needs.
Communicate progress, challenges, and solutions effectively to executive leadership and stakeholders.
Security and Compliance:
Implement and enforce cloud security best practices, ensuring data privacy and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Develop incident response and disaster recovery plans for cloud environments.
About You
Basic Qualifications
8+ years leading software development/engineering teams
8+yrs experience of cloud engineering, with a deep understanding of either AWS or GCP services and offerings.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
Other Qualifications
Experience in cloud migration and transformation projects, including infrastructure as code (IaC) and automation.
In-depth knowledge of cloud networking, security, and standard methodologies.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with multi-functional teams.
Cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect) are a plus.
Strong problem-solving skills and proven ability to adapt to a fast-paced, evolving environment.
