INSTITUTE FOR INNOVATION, TRANSLATION AND POLICY RESEARCH

The Institute for Innovation, Translation and Policy Research (ITPR) is set out with the vision to support the University in pioneering innovation, technology translation, and innovation policy development. With the mission to drive strategic alliances, collaborations, multidisciplinary research and development and their applications, ITPR consists of three sections, namely Innovation and Entrepreneurship (I&E), Technology Translation (TT), and Policy Research (PR), which will provide all-rounded business development, scientific, and policy research support for the University to respond to the challenges and opportunities worldwide and also specifically under the aegis of the Hong Kong SAR Government’s top policy priority on innovation and technology development.

Reporting to the Principal Investigator or his/her delegate, the candidate will be responsible for development of surveillance system, design system architect and develop management graphic interface and statistic tools for data analysis and mining. 

Computer Scientist (at the rank of Research Associate) (23241093) 

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement a reliable and resilient system architecture leveraging big data and cloud technologies to support enterprise data;
  • Design, develop, and maintain APIs for seamless data integration and real-time data processing;
  • Create interactive, user-friendly dashboards that visualise complex data sets to provide actionable insights;
  • Develop and optimise databases to ensure efficient data storage, retrieval and management;
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver comprehensive solutions, from platform design and technical architecture, to finally testing and deploying the solution; and
  • Ensure data security and regulatory compliance, implementing best practices.

Requirements:

  • A master’s degree or above in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field;
  • Proven experience in development and management of APIs, dashboard and database;
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, or C#;
  • Experience with data visualisation tools and database technologies (e.g., SQL, NoSQL);
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail;
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment;
  • A passionate and dynamic individual who possesses strong analytical and interpersonal skills, is attentive to details, and is a self-starter with the ability to work under pressure; and
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills (English, Cantonese, Putonghua).

The appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract. 

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
