Solutions and Experiences Creation in Bell labs Solutions Research creates end-to-end solutions and experiences by turning research into practical systems. 

The broad research focus areas in the team include Machine Learning (ML), Natural Language Processing (NLP), Industrial Automation, and Operational Technology (OT) systems. The team conducts research in the area of advanced AI/ML techniques to optimize, automate, and enhance industrial processes and systems in the context of Industry 5.0.

Our international team is based primarily in Budapest, Hungary, Murray Hill, USA, and Antwerp, Belgium.
 



Responsibilities

As a member of the team, you will focus on developing ML and NLP algorithms, architecting, and building systems that solve challenging industrial automation problems – it is a unique opportunity to work with future technologies developed at Bell Labs research. You will work closely with the global Bell Labs research community, external academic and industrial partners, as well as with Nokia business units and the venture incubation teams. 

 



Qualifications

The ideal candidate: 

  • Enjoys researching and creatively designing new ML/NLP algorithms and implementing early prototypes of new technologies in novel ways.
  • Loves to code and can solve complex problems. 
  • Has strong ability to work within teams with excellent interpersonal skills and written/verbal communication skills.

You have: 

  • PhD or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Strong appetite and/or experience with ML and NLP algorithms. Track record of coming up with new ideas in ML/NLP, as demonstrated by projects.
  • Relevant multi-year work or academic experience in software projects, data engineering, etc.
  • Experience with programming languages popular for ML/NLP and web systems programming (like Python, Java, JavaScript). 
  • Hands-on experience with NLP libraries (like HuggingFace, LangChain) and ML frameworks (like PyTorch, Tensorflow).
  • Experience with visualizing/presenting data.

It would be nice if you also had: 

  • Post PhD research or industry experience in automation, OT technology, in for example knowledge extraction from OT data.
